How to add a new vcard entry without having received an email from that person?

add relies on the from field of an email and edit relies on a search query, so I'm not sure what's the best way to do this. Manually creating a vcard file doesn't feel good when I'm not 100% sure about the format and I would expect mates to support this use case.

Yes, this functionality is missing at the moment. I personally use mates only as integration for mutt, not (or at least not often) as a tool to manage contacts. I would gladly accept a PR for this, I imagine the implementation to be similar to how editing looks like.
