Hola, I'm Isaac Arroyo 🇲🇽 👋

I'm a Data Visualisation Journalist at The National in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. I like to define my work as being at the intersection of numbers, shapes, and colours.

My professional interests 🤓

Although my background is in physics, I aim to use my data analysis and visualisation skills in other fields. For example, journalism 📰, social sciences and human rights 🧑‍🤝‍🧑👬👭, the arts 🎨, public policy 🏛️ and the environment 🌱🍃.

My tech, data and math skills 📝

  • Knowledge of math (statistics, linear algebra, calculus) and unsupervised (machine) learning (anomaly detection, pattern recognition).
  • Data analysis with Python and R
  • Data visualisation using
    • Programming languages Python, using Vega-Altair; R using {ggplot2}; and JavaScript, using Observable Plot
    • Design software: Illustrator
